Welcome to Tabledoo

What Tabledoo is

Tabledoo is one place to run everything that happens at the front of your restaurant: the bookings, the floor, the guests, the menu and the reports. It replaces the paper diary, the spreadsheet, the phone calls and the separate tools you might be using for your menu or your events.

It runs in a web browser, so there is nothing to install and nothing to keep updated. You open it on a computer, a tablet at the host stand, or a phone in your pocket, and you are always looking at the same live information as everyone else on your team.

What you can do with it

Four things, in the order a guest experiences them.

StageWhat Tabledoo does
Taking the bookingA booking page of your own where guests book themselves, 24 hours a day. Plus walk-ins, a waiting list, and bookings your staff take by phone.
Running the floorA live picture of every table right now, and a planning view of the whole day, so you always know what is free, who is late, and who is about to arrive.
Serving the tableA digital menu guests reach by scanning a code on the table, and — on some plans — ordering from their own phone.
Growing the businessA record of every guest and every visit, automatic confirmation and reminder messages, and reports that answer questions like "which nights are actually busy?"

The screens you will use

These are the items down the left-hand side of the app, top to bottom.

  • Dashboard — today at a glance. The first screen you see after signing in. See Dashboard: your daily snapshot.
  • Live View — every table as it stands right now: free, booked soon, or occupied.
  • Orders — food and drink orders sent from guests' phones, for kitchen and floor staff.
  • Reservations — the full list of bookings, and the Timeline, which lays the whole day out as a grid.
  • Waitlist — the queue of guests waiting for a table.
  • Events — ticketed nights such as a tasting menu, live music or a quiz.
  • Guests — a profile for every guest, with their history, their allergies and whether they are a regular.
  • Reports — five reports covering bookings, revenue, table use, guests and your booking page.
  • Property Settings — everything you configure once and rarely touch again: opening hours, tables, staff, messages, branding.

Why your screen might look different from a colleague's

Two reasons, and both are normal:

  1. Your role. A server does not need the reports or the settings, so those items are simply not shown to them. See Roles and what each one can do.
  2. Your plan. Some parts of Tabledoo are included on some plans only. If your plan does not include the digital menu, for example, the menu items are not there at all. See Plans, features and limits.

So if this guide mentions something you cannot find, it is almost always one of those two — not a fault, and not something you have switched off by accident.

Where to start

If your restaurant is brand new to Tabledoo, work through Your first day: a setup checklist. It puts the setup steps in the right order, which matters more than it sounds — your tables and your opening hours are what every available time is calculated from, so they come first.

If somebody else has already set the restaurant up and you have just been given a login, start with Signing in to your workspace and then Finding your way around.
