What this covers

The booking page from the guest's side, step by step, so you know what they are experiencing when they ring to ask.

The page

Your logo and branding at the top, Book a table, and a line stating your rules plainly — for example "Party size 1-12 · Minimum notice 2 hours". No account, no password, nothing to download.

The steps

  1. Party size and Date.
  2. Available times. Only times that genuinely work appear. Everything else is simply absent — a guest is never offered something you cannot honour. If there is nothing that day they see "No time slots available for this date."
  3. Their details — first name, last name and phone are required; email is asked for so the confirmation can reach them.
  4. Special Requests, prompted with "Allergies, seating preference, occasion…" — which is why so many guests fill it in usefully.
  5. Request Reservation.

Then: "Thank you! Your reservation request was submitted." with their reservation number, name, time, pax and duration, and a note that a confirmation email is on its way.

If your restaurant uses seatings

Instead of a list of times, guests choose a named sitting — Choose a seating — and a full one shows as Fully booked. See Rolling slots versus fixed seatings.

What happens on your side

  • The booking appears immediately in Reservations, on the Timeline and in Live View, marked as having come from your booking page.
  • It arrives with the status you chose — Pending if you want to check each one, or Confirmed for an instant answer.
  • Unless you have turned auto-assign on, it arrives without a table, waiting in the Timeline's unassigned tray for you to place. See Unassigned bookings and the assignment tray.
  • The guest is emailed or texted according to your notification settings.

If something goes wrong for them

They see "We couldn't submit your reservation." with a Try again button. The usual cause is that the last table for that time went while they were typing — two people cannot take the same last slot, and exactly one of them wins.

Two things worth knowing

  • "Request Reservation" is deliberate wording. If your default status is Pending, the guest has asked rather than been confirmed — so confirm promptly, or set the default to Confirmed so the page means what it says. See Booking rules for your public page.
  • Special requests reach your Dashboard. What they type appears on the arrivals list, so the kitchen and the host see it without opening anything.
