Reports overview

What this covers

What each report answers, which one to open for which question, and — most importantly — the one thing that decides whether any of them can be trusted. Requires the view-reports permission, which Owners and Managers have; Hosts and Waitstaff do not see Reports at all.

Find them under Reports in the sidebar. The five reports are tabs across the top of one shared page, so you can move between them without losing your date range.

The date range

Every report shares the same filter: a start date and an end date, then Apply filters. There are no quick presets — you type or pick the two dates.

If you have not chosen a range, reports show the last 30 days up to today.

How the range is interpreted

Two points that explain most surprises:

  • Bookings are matched on the date of the booking, not the date it was made. A booking taken in January for a table in March appears in March.
  • The range is inclusive at both ends, and the end date may be in the future — which is almost always a mistake. See below.

Do not include future dates

This is the single easiest way to make a report look alarming for no reason.

Rates like completion, no-show and cancellation are calculated across every booking in the range. A booking next Friday is neither completed nor a no-show — it is still pending. Include next Friday and those bookings sit in the denominator dragging your completion rate down, while nothing is wrong at all.

So when you are measuring performance, end the range yesterday or today. The default range does this for you, which is why it is the default.

Reports are only as good as what your staff record

Read this part before drawing any conclusion from any report. Tabledoo does not observe your restaurant — it reports what was typed in. Two habits decide whether the numbers mean anything.

1. Status hygiene

Every rate on the reservation report comes from statuses. If a table that did not turn up is left sitting as confirmed, it is not counted as a no-show — so your no-show rate reads better than reality and you will conclude reminders are unnecessary.

Worse, the utilisation report treats anything not cancelled and not a no-show as time the table was occupied. An unmarked no-show therefore shows as a table that was working. See The reservation lifecycle and Automatic no-shows and completion — the automatic sweeps exist precisely to stop this drifting.

2. Bill entry

The revenue report is built only from completed bookings that have a bill recorded. Nothing else contributes. If your staff enter bills for half your tables, your revenue report shows roughly half your revenue — and it will not warn you (link Recording the bill and tip).

If you take one thing from this article: a report that looks wrong is usually telling you the truth about your data entry rather than about your restaurant. Check the habit before you doubt the number.

Who can see what

ReportNeeds
Reservation, Revenue, Utilisation, Guest analyticsview-reports and the Advanced analytics & reports feature
Booking page funnelview-reports and the Public Booking Page feature
Both CSV exportsview-reports and Advanced analytics & reports

If Reports is missing from your sidebar you do not have view-reports — ask your Owner (link Roles and permissions). The tab strip across the top only shows the reports your plan actually includes — Reservation, Revenue, Utilisation and Guest analytics need Advanced analytics & reports, and Booking page funnel needs Public Booking Page separately, so a restaurant can hold either, both, or neither. If a report you expect is not there as a tab at all, that is the feature to add (link A feature or menu item is missing).

Good to know

Money follows your restaurant's currency, set in Property Settings → Restaurant — not your billing currency (link Timezone, currency and formats).

Reports are read-only. Nothing you do here changes a booking, and there is no way to break anything by exploring.

There are no scheduled or emailed reports. You open them when you want them. For a recurring automated feed, the API is the route (link API overview).
