A feature or menu item is missing
What this covers
Something you expected to see is not there. There are only two reasons, and telling them apart takes about a minute.
The two questions
- Is it your role? Your account may not have permission.
- Is it your plan? Your subscription may not include it.
How to tell instantly
Ask a colleague with a different role — ideally the Owner — whether they can see it.
- They can see it, you cannot → it is your role.
- Nobody can see it, including the Owner → it is your plan.
That one question resolves nearly every case, because an Owner has every permission — so anything an Owner cannot see is not a permissions problem.
If it is your role
Four roles, and the menu changes with each (link Roles and what each one can do).
| Role | Does not see |
|---|---|
| Waitstaff | Settings, reports, events, guests editing, creating bookings |
| Host | Settings, reports, events management |
| Manager | Billing only — Subscription, invoices, SMS credit purchases |
| Owner | Nothing. Full access |
Two that surprise people: Hosts cannot open Reports, and Managers cannot see billing — that is Owner-only and cannot be delegated (link The Owner account).
To change it: ask an Owner or Manager to change your role, or to give you the specific permission. Say what you are trying to do rather than which role you want — often a smaller change is enough (link Editing and removing staff).
If it is your plan
Fifteen features can be included or not. Check your plan's list at Property Settings → Subscription — it is the authoritative answer (link Your plan and what it includes).
| Missing | Feature needed |
|---|---|
| The Timeline | Timeline View |
| The floor plan | Floorplan View |
| Your public booking page | Public Booking Page |
| SEO settings for that page | SEO Enhanced Booking Page |
| Events | Events |
| Menu and QR codes | Menu Display |
| Guests ordering from the table | Online Ordering |
| Call waiter and request bill | Customer Interaction |
| The chatbot | Chatbot |
| Caller screen-pop | Phone Integration |
| Fixed seatings | Fixed Seatings |
| Reports and exports | Advanced analytics & reports |
| Review request emails | Guest Feedback Emails |
| API keys | API Access |
| Webhooks | Webhooks |
To change it: only the Owner can, from Subscription (link Changing your plan). Upgrades take effect immediately — the feature appears as soon as the change goes through, though you may need to reload the page.
What a direct link shows
If you type the address of a page you cannot reach, you are not left guessing:
- Missing the plan feature → you land on the subscription page with a message saying the feature is not on your current plan.
- Missing the permission → you are refused and sent back.
So the redirect itself is a diagnosis: landing on the subscription page means plan, not role.
Three other reasons something is missing
Rarer, but worth knowing before you report anything.
It depends on something else being set up
Some things appear only once they are usable:
- The phone icon in the top bar is faded until a trigger URL exists, and absent entirely if phone integration is switched off (link Choosing which screens pop).
- The menu language switcher appears only when your menu has other languages (link Languages your guests see).
- Seatings appear on the booking form only on a weekday set to seatings mode.
The account is suspended
If nobody can reach anything and everyone sees a suspension page, it is billing — and guests are unaffected, so your booking page is still taking bookings (link A failed payment, and suspension).
It genuinely does not exist
A few things people look for are not in Tabledoo. A holiday calendar for one-off closed dates, a message send log, and a resend button are the three most often searched for — all covered in their own articles, each with a workaround.
