Saving and restoring your default layout — Help

What this covers

How Tabledoo remembers your normal room arrangement, and how to get back to it after a night of moving tables around.

Needs the floor plan feature. Restoring needs permission to move tables — Owner, Manager or Host.

What the default layout is

A snapshot of where every table sits: its position, its rotation, and how it is drawn. It is the arrangement you consider normal — the room as it should look at the start of a service.

How it gets saved

By saving the full floor plan editor. Every time you press Save Layout in Property Settings → Floorplan Editor, the current arrangement becomes your default.

There is no separate "save as default" button to remember. If the room is arranged the way you want it to be normally, save the full editor and that is your default from then on.

How to get back to it

On Live View, open the quick editor and choose Restore default layout. You are asked to confirm, and the message names the date the layout was saved: "Restore the layout saved on 12 September? Tables added since then will keep their current position."

Every table in the snapshot goes back to where it was.

The three rules worth understanding

There is no timer and no automatic revert. Nothing puts the room back at midnight. Restoring is always something a person chooses to do, so a layout you meant to keep never disappears overnight.
Tables added since the snapshot stay where they are. Restoring does not sweep away a table you added an hour ago — it only moves the tables it knows about. The confirmation message says so.
Tables that no longer exist are skipped, quietly.

The normal working pattern

Set your default once, when the floor plan matches the room as it usually stands.
Rearrange freely during service with the quick editor.
Restore in the morning, as part of setting up.
If a change is permanent — you have genuinely moved that banquette for good — open the full editor, arrange it properly and save. That becomes the new default.

Good to know

It only affects the drawing. Restoring moves tables on the plan. It does not touch bookings, capacities, names or sections, and no guest is affected.
One default per restaurant, not one per day. If you have a genuinely different weekend layout, you will be rearranging by hand each time — or you can save the weekend layout as the default on Friday and re-save the weekday one on Monday.
Restoring is safe to try. The worst case is that you drag a few tables back.
