What the chatbot can do

What this covers

What the assistant on your website actually does, and where its limits are. Needs the Chatbot feature on your plan.

It is not a FAQ box

Most restaurant chatbots match questions to canned answers. This one is connected to your restaurant's live data, so it can look things up and make real changes rather than telling the guest to call you.

What it can do

A guest asksThe assistant
"What time do you open on Sunday?"Reads your opening hours, address and phone from your settings.
"Where can I park?"Answers from the parking and transit information you wrote.
"Do you have highchairs?"Answers from your own list of questions and answers.
"Anything for four on Friday around eight?"Checks real availability — the same engine your staff use.
"Book that for me"Creates a real booking, which appears in your Reservations immediately.
"What's on my booking?"Looks it up — after checking who they are.
"Can we make it 8:30 instead?"Moves the booking, re-checking availability first.
"We need to cancel"Cancels it.
"What's on the menu?"Summarises it — if your plan includes the digital menu.

Why that matters

The questions above are most of your phone calls. Every one handled by the assistant is one your host does not take during service — and unlike your phone, it answers at midnight, in whatever language the guest writes in.

What it will not do

  • Invent availability. It checks the same engine your booking page uses, so it cannot offer a table you do not have.
  • Touch a past booking, or one already cancelled. Only future, live bookings can be changed.
  • Take payment, or anything to do with money.
  • Look up a guest without proof. See Guardrails and usage limits.
  • Answer things you never told it. If your parking information is blank, it does not know where guests park.

That last point is the whole job of setting it up: the assistant is only as good as the information you give it. See Setting up the chatbot and Writing your FAQs.

Bookings it makes

They arrive as confirmed bookings, marked as having come from the chatbot so you can tell them apart in your reports. The guest is matched to an existing profile by email, or given a new one — so a chatbot booking builds your guest list like any other.
