Option groups and choices
What this covers
Letting guests choose something about a dish — how it is cooked, which side, extra toppings — and controlling how many choices they may make. Needs the manage-settings permission.
How it works
An item can have one or more option groups. Each group is a question, and each option inside it is a possible answer. A group has two numbers that decide the rules:
- Minimum selections — how many the guest must pick. Zero means optional.
- Maximum selections — how many they may pick at most.
Both go up to 20. Those two numbers between them express every normal case:

Options
Each option has a name and, if you want, a price modifier — an amount added to the item's price. Blue cheese sauce at +€3 is an option with a modifier; "medium rare" is an option without one.
Options have their own availability, so you can turn off a single sauce without touching the dish.
What the guest sees
An item with choices opens a small window when tapped, with your groups and their rules. If they have not met the minimum they cannot continue; once they hit the maximum, the rest stop being selectable. The price updates as they choose.
The rules are also checked again when an order is placed, so nothing can slip through even from a tampered-with phone.
Worked examples
A steak
- Cooking — min 1, max 1: rare, medium rare, medium, well done. No price modifiers.
- Sauce — min 0, max 1: peppercorn +€3, blue cheese +€3, garlic butter +€2.
A pizza
- Base — min 1, max 1: classic, sourdough +€2, gluten-free +€2.50.
- Extra toppings — min 0, max 5, each +€1.50.
A set menu
- Starter — min 1, max 1. Main — min 1, max 1. Dessert — min 1, max 1.
Good to know
- Do not overdo it. Every group is a decision on a phone screen. Two per item is plenty.
- Options are translated too when you auto-translate the menu. See Auto-translating your menu.
- They matter most with ordering switched on, where the guest's choices reach the kitchen exactly as made. Without ordering they are still useful as information.
